Clinton Mikel, a Partner at The Health Law Partners, counsels his clients in all areas of health care law and business, but focuses his practice on advising clients regarding compliance with federal and state health care regulations, and representing them in transactional matters. Mr. Mikel has become a leading authority for business, legal and compliance issues surrounding health information technology, and the growing field of telemedicine/telehealth/eHealth/mHealth. In recognition of this, he currently serves as Chair of The American Bar Association (ABA) Health Law Section’s eHealth, Privacy & Security Group. Mr. Mikel has also developed particular expertise regarding federal and state fraud & abuse and self-referral laws (e.g., the Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute), and federal and state privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA). Mr. Mikel represents health systems and hospitals, EHR/EMR developers, physician groups, entrepreneurs, rural health centers, pharmacies (including compounding pharmacies), IDTFs, ASCs, and other health care providers and suppliers. Regularly published in industry publications, Mr. Mikel also speaks at conferences across the country, including educational sessions he conducts for clients on various health law matters. A graduate of Cornell University and the University of Michigan Law School, Mr. Mikel is admitted to practice in both Michigan and California. He currently serves as Chair of the ABA Health Law Section’s eHealth, Privacy & Security Group, and as a Vice Chair for its Publications Committee. He is a member of the American Bar Association (Health Law Section), the American Health Lawyers Association, the American Telemedicine Association, the California Society of Health Care Attorneys, the State Bar of Georgia, and the State Bar of Michigan (Health Care Law Section).
